Course Introduction

In today’s interconnected digital world, this course provides the foundational networking knowledge required to begin a career in network administration and support—no prior networking experience required. You’ll start by building a strong understanding of network fundamentals, including how data moves across networks, the role of network devices, and how modern enterprise networks are designed and managed.

You’ll then dive into IP addressing and network communication, learning IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, subnetting, binary concepts, and how devices communicate using key protocols such as TCP, UDP, ARP, DNS, DHCP, and HTTP. You’ll gain hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting networks using Cisco routers and switches, with a strong emphasis on the Cisco IOS command-line interface.

As the course progresses, you’ll explore switching, routing, and wireless technologies, including VLANs, trunking, inter-VLAN routing, static and dynamic routing concepts, and secure wireless LAN deployment. You’ll also learn how to identify and resolve common network performance and connectivity issues in wired and wireless environments.

Security is a core component of this course. You’ll study network security fundamentals, including access control, basic firewall concepts, device hardening, VPN awareness, and common network threats. Best practices for securing network infrastructure and protecting data integrity are emphasized throughout.

Finally, the course prepares you for real-world networking roles by reinforcing troubleshooting methodologies, documentation, and professional networking practices. By the end of the program, you’ll have the practical skills, technical confidence, and conceptual understanding needed for entry-level networking positions—and to successfully prepare for and pass the Cisco CCNA (200-301) certification exam.
